The Board of Appeals hears requests for variances from the zoning code.  It meets every Tuesday in Room 801 at Boston City Hall.

Barbara Melanson is asking for permission to put up a sign for a church.

103 North Beacon St, Brighton
Martin & Erica Siegel of Marty’s Big Guy’s would like to change the uses of the building to allow an electrical warehouse and a liquor store.

154-162A Brighton Ave, Allston
The owner of the building wants the Brighton Music Hall’s capacity upped from 340 to 476 people.

George Haroutunian is seeking a variance to relocate the building on the lot and and change the legal occupancy from a single-family to a four-family, add a rear addition and renovate.  The proposed building exceeds the height limit of 35 feet, and would not have enough open space in the rear yard.

20 Saunders Street, Allston

James Clark is requesting to change the legal occupancy from a single to two-family dwelling.

20 Penniman Road, Allston

Rugg Road Realty Trust is asking for permission to build a five story, 36 units building with parking below.  The proposal requires variances due to the height, the overall size of the building compared to the lot, that a residential use in not allowed in that area, and the lack of adequate parking,

 

Booze

The Licensing Board for the city of Boston decides who gets to sell what kind of alcohol where and when. Restaurants, clubs and package stores are all under its authority.  They also issue licenses to serve food and get a say in what kind of entertainment can be provided.

They meet three times a week.  Tuesday is when they deal with alleged violations, Wednesday is when they consider requests from current or potential licensees, and Thursday is when they vote on these matters.  Generally they meet at 10 AM in Room 809 at Boston City Hall
